Gardener

Horsley Lodge Estate is seeking a passionate and reliable Gardener to help maintain and enhance the appearance of our beautiful estate grounds, gardens, and landscaped areas surrounding the golf course and hospitality venues.

This is not a Greenkeeper position. The successful candidate will focus on the care, presentation, and upkeep of ornamental gardens, planting areas, pathways, and estate landscaping rather than golf course turf management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining flower beds, shrubs, hedges, and landscaped areas across the estate
  • Planting and seasonal garden preparation
  • Pruning, weeding, mulching, and general horticultural care
  • Maintaining pathways, borders, and outdoor presentation areas
  • Assisting with irrigation and plant health management
  • Operating and maintaining gardening equipment safely
  • Supporting the overall visual standards of the estate grounds

KEY SKILLS, QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous gardening or horticultural experience preferred
  • Passion for outdoor work and maintaining high presentation standards
  • Knowledge of plants, shrubs, and seasonal gardening practices
  • Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently
  • Full driving licence beneficial but not essential

CHEF DE PARTIE

40 Hours per week

Shifts will include weekdays and weekends depending on business needs. Own transport advisable.

Nestled within the rolling Derbyshire countryside, Horsley lodge is a historic property situated in over 200 acres, boasting a 16-bedroom hotel, restaurant, bars & wedding venue alongside a world class 18-hole golf course.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and run a specific section of the kitchen (e.g. grill, pastry, or sauce)
  • Prepare and present dishes to a consistently high standard
  • Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations
  • Ensure food hygiene and health & safety standards are maintained
  • Assist with stock control and minimising waste
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff

KEY SKILLS, QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or strong Commis Chef ready to step up
  • Passion for fresh, high-quality food
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen
  • Team player with a positive attitude

GREENKEEPER

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Food & Beverage Supervisor to join our dynamic team and help us maintain our high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and support restaurant staff, including servers, hosts, and kitchen staff.
Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by maintaining quality service standards.
Handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
Oversee opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and reconciliation.
Assist in staff training, development, and performance evaluations.
Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

KEY SKILLS, QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE

• Proven experience as a Food & Beverage Supervisor or in a similar role.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle high-stress situations and remain calm under pressure.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

  •  Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining and service areas.
  •  Support the setup and breakdown of dining areas for events and daily service.
  •  Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a safe dining environment.
  •  Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and smooth operations.
  •  Replenish stock and supplies as needed.
  •  Handle cash transactions and process payments accurately.
  •  Assist in other duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager.

KEY SKILLS, QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE

  •  Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not essential.
  •  Strong customer service skills and a friendly, approachable demeanour.
